SentimentSuperSet
SentimentSuperSet (2024) is a collaborative exhibition commissioned by Untitled Gallery in Berlin.
Presented on a mixed media installation, the exhibition explores moments of magical realism and strange meditation by evoking a world that invites contemplation.
The pieces stem from the desire to capture uncommon natural behaviours and the introspection found in silent retreats and pleasure gardens.
SentimentSuperSet gives space to the soothing rhythms of oceanic tides, speculating with this close-to-our-heart natural phenomenon through a more intimate lens.
We wanted to capture this fascinating self-transportation moment that happens in your brain when you get absorbed by observing the sea waves. That mouth opening, “What were you saying? Sorry, I got distracted” moment - the piece allowing for enough space and time to let anyone who observes for enough time to sink in.
A cherished element in this ecosystem are the tiny breathing organisms that live in symbiosis with this sinusoidal world.
SentimentSuperSet nurtures a small, frog-like alien character that finds its place in unconventional spaces, in strange nooks and crannies, just existing, staring around and breathing.
The breathing cycles of these beings are merged with the back and forth sways of the tides and the pulsing movements of the lava, interlacing the soft rythms that build this world.
At the vernissage, craving for some physical memories for the future, we shared with the attendees a selection of risograph prints in metallic silver.
